Surabhi is an Investment Officer at Big Society Capital. She initially joined the organisation as part of the On Purpose programme, a year-long leadership scheme that combines on-the-ground experience in two purpose-driven organisations with a learning and development programme.
Prior to joining the On Purpose programme, Surabhi worked for ten years in the financial services industry as a futures broker first at Barclays Capital in Singapore, and then at Newedge UK (now part of Société Générale) and ICAP Plc in London where she was involved in setting up a global broking and algorithmic trade execution team. Her role included providing sales coverage to institutional investors and developing bespoke market analytics and commentary.
She holds an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad and has recently completed her Masters in International Politics at SOAS University of London. Her first On Purpose placement was with BSC investee Charity Bank and involved working closely with the CEO on multiple strategic initiatives including capital-raising. She volunteers with a small mental health charity providing multilingual counselling services to South Asian communities in London.
