Rebecca is currently on secondment with M&G plc.
Rebecca works in the Investment Group across all stages of the investment process including the design, execution and management of social impact investments. She is also currently part of the team exploring how Big Society Capital can establish its first product available to external investors to increase the flow of capital into funds targeting society’s most entrenched social challenges.
Rebecca is passionate about using investment to improve people’s lives. Since joining Big Society Capital in 2015, she has led or managed others to assess and manage debt, equity and property investments that are targeting social impact outcomes across the full spectrum of social issue areas. She has a speciality in small scale finance and blended debt/grant product, having led Big Society Capital’s investment into the ~£55 million Access Growth Fund alongside the National Community Lottery Fund and designed a £30 million fund and accompanying evaluation for community lenders.
Rebecca was awarded a research Churchill Fellowship in 2019 to explore how to most effectively channel socially motivated capital into enterprises having a positive impact on people and places. She will visit India, Singapore, Myanmar, the USA and Canada to capture and report on the lessons most relevant for the UK.
Rebecca supports Big Society Capital’s tri-lingual approach as a CFA Charterholder and from her previous experience working in the charity sector and across the UK Government, including at the Departments for Work and Pensions, and Communities and Local Government.
Her external roles include being a member of Natwest Social and Community Capital Credit Panel; a trustee of UK Youth, the largest national charity for the youth sector; and the founder and Chair of the CFA UK’s Social Impact Investing Special Interest Group.
