Rebecca works in the Investment Group helping to invest and manage Big Society Capital’s portfolio. She is passionate about the role of investment to achieve social and environmental outcomes and to improve people’s lives. Since joining Big Society Capital in 2015, she has designed, executed, and managed social impact investment across all product and social issue areas; helped develop many areas of Big Society Capital’s investment approach and process; and supported the building of its client investment management offering.
Rebecca has spent time on secondment with M&G to support the development of its Impact Investment Strategy and also the design and launch of Catalyst, a £5 billion mandate focused on innovative private assets and broad impact from ESG to Sustainable and Impact Investments.
Prior to joining Big Society Capital in 2015, Rebecca worked in the charity sector and across the UK Government in policy and commercial roles including at the Departments for Work and Pensions, Energy and Climate Change and Communities and Local Government.
She is a CFA Charterholder and is currently completing her CFA UK Certificate in ESG Investing and a Masters in International Development with SOAS where she is specialising in the role of subsidy in Impact Investing to achieve sustainable development outcomes.
Rebecca’s external roles include being a trustee of national youth charity UK Youth, a Learning Panel member of the Impact Investing Institute and an Alternative Investment Specialist for the CFA UK Investment Management Certificate qualification. She is an Investment Committee member for Trust for London’s £340 million endowment, the Growth Fund, and the main Covid-19 debt response for charities and social enterprises, the Resilience and Recovery Loan Fund.
