Small & medium-sized charities

We want to see a social investment market where charities and social enterprises can access basic financial products to help them achieve their aims.

How social investment can be used

To create new revenue streams

In one of the most deprived areas in Bristol, the Southmead Development Trust has used a social loan from Pure Leapfrog to cover part of the cost of a solar installation on its roof as part of a plan to reduce ongoing operational costs and enable the Centre to remain self-sufficient.

To buy and refurbish buildings

In Redhill in Surrey, Furnistore provides furniture and households goods to families who may not otherwise be able to afford them. When rental increases forced it to move, it used a loan from Charity Bank to buy its own premises.

Our goals for 2017

  • Strong uptake of available social investment products by frontline organisations
  • Greater availability of smaller-size investments, enabled via ‘blended’ capital
